Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, is starting to see some progress in his battle against spamming bots on the microblogging and social networking platform. This is due to statements made by prominent members of the crypto community that replies from spamming bots have decreased drastically.
In a TED talk before taking over Twitter in October, Elon Musk stated that his top priority for the platform is to eradicate spam and scam bots, as well as the armies of people behind them.
He went on to say that spam bots are bad for Twitter’s growth and that if he had a Dogecoin for every cryptocurrency scam he’d seen on the platform, he’d have 100 billion Dogecoins right now.
In a Twitter post on December 11th, Elon Musk said, “Bots are in for a surprise tomorrow.” He continued by assuring his followers that they had identified a sizable number of those responsible for these offenses.
He assured them that Twitter would disable the IP addresses of those discovered, preventing them from using the service in the future. Even if they were able to log in, they would be kicked out immediately.
Some well-known figures in the cryptocurrency industry have spoken out in support of the new microblogging platform’s development. Ethereum co-founder Vitalis Buterin was among those who confirmed Elon Musk’s influence on Twitter.
According to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Twitter “seems to be marginally better to use lately,” though he is unsure if this is due to Musk.
Other platform users put Elon’s claim to the test, making test posts and attesting that the platform was starting to become free of automated responses.
Although some users claim to see automated comments on posts, they are typically deleted as soon as they appear.
