Speculation is brewing across the Solana community after Pump.fun co-founder Alon Cohen dropped a cryptic reaction to fresh claims of an imminent airdrop.
In a post on July 20, popular crypto influencer Downsin Jerome told his followers that Pump.fun would distribute its native token, $PUMP, to eligible Solana wallet holders on July 24 at 15:00 UTC. According to Jerome, Cohen had “officially announced” the distribution date for the anticipated airdrop.
JUST IN: Alon Cohen (@a1lon9), Co-Founder and CEO of https://t.co/8x0OM3mJKn, has officially announced that distribution of the $PUMP airdrop to eligible active Solana wallets will commence on July 24, 2025, at 15:00 UTC.

The post quickly went viral, amassing over 330,000 views. However, Cohen’s own response only added fuel to the speculation. Rather than confirming or denying the claim, he posted a gif on X from the DreamWorks movie Monsters vs Aliens, featuring the character B.O.B. shifting his eye back and forth in apparent confusion or mischief.
Traders had mixed interpretations of Cohen’s reaction. While some took it as the closest thing to an official confirmation so far, others dismissed it as a playful deflection with no real indication of an airdrop.
“Craziest thing is that this is the closest thing we’ve had to official confirmation thus far,”
one user commented, while another wrote,
“Bro is replying to an airdrop troll post instead of giving actual info on when or if it’s happening.”
The speculation follows Pump.fun’s native token launch on July 12, which raised around $1.32 billion within days, making it one of the largest meme coin launches on Solana to date. At press time, $PUMP was trading at $0.0043, marking a slight 0.43% increase over the past 24 hours according to data from CoinMarketCap.
Recently, Pump.fun made its first acquisition by purchasing Kolscan, a Solana-based wallet tracker that monitors top on-chain traders, providing real-time transaction data, profit-and-loss analytics, and a leaderboard ranking traders’ performance.
As traders continue to await clarity, Cohen’s cryptic gif has left the community guessing whether an airdrop is indeed in the pipeline – or if the rumour is nothing more than wishful thinking.
