Helium Wars, a highly anticipated AAA third-person shooter built on blockchain technology, launched its official Testnet on the SEI Network, attracting overwhelming participation on its first day.
This rapid influx of players highlights the growing demand for competitive, skill-based Web3 gaming experiences.
According to the development team, over 700 closed-access invitations were claimed in less than two hours. Additionally, more than 500 PvP matches were played across various battle arenas, with over 1,500 players active in the in-game lobby. The average session length exceeded 65 minutes, demonstrating strong early engagement and player retention.

Blending traditional high-fidelity shooter gameplay with blockchain-based digital ownership, Helium Wars was developed using Unreal Engine 5. The game offers multiple modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and a unique “Helium Wars” resource-control mode. Furthermore, all in-game assets, such as weapons, gear, and cosmetic items, are minted as NFTs, enabling players to own, trade, and upgrade their assets both inside and outside the game environment.
Set on the fictional planet Zaeon, the game immerses players in a battle over Helium, a valuable energy resource. Players choose between two rival factions: the technologically advanced Aetherians or the nature-powered Valerians, each offering distinct abilities and tactical advantages, enriching the game’s strategic depth.
Complementing the gameplay is the integration of a native token, $HELM, which serves multiple functions within the ecosystem. Players can stake tokens, earn rewards, participate in DAO-based governance, and influence the game’s development roadmap.
Josh, the founder of Helium Wars, described the launch as a significant milestone for the future of gaming. He stated,
