Web3 intellectual property protocol Story has announced its mainnet launch on February 13, alongside its native token, IP, which aims to help creators monetize and protect their digital content.
In a February 11 X post, Story announced the upcoming launch of an IP token designed for transactions, governance voting, and payments to creators. The initial staking phase, “Singularity,” will begin with rewards distributed on March 2. The total supply of IP tokens is capped at 1 billion, and several major crypto exchanges, including Bitget, Bithumb, Bybit, KuCoin, Coinbase, and OKX, will list the token.
According to a post on the protocol’s forum, Story’s mainnet launch enhances decentralized intellectual property ownership by allowing creators to register their work on the blockchain. It supports automatic licensing and revenue-sharing agreements, enabling direct payments without intermediaries. The protocol creates an open market for intellectual property, allowing rights holders to set terms of use and payment. Fees are paid in cryptocurrency, but creators can opt for payouts in their local currency.
Story, founded in 2022 by former Google DeepMind product manager Jason Zhao, aims to tackle the issue of AI remixing content without compensating creators. The platform focuses on IP tokenization within the $61 trillion intellectual property market. Over 50 applications, including the popular digital art collaboration platform Magma with 2.5 million users, are already integrated with Story’s protocol.
In a December X post, Story introduced an experimental framework that allows AI agents to interact on-chain, embracing the agentic AI trend. The ACTP/IP system facilitates secure IP management and enables autonomous data exchanges between AI agents, with compensation provided to bots for data sharing.
In addition to Story’s advancements in decentralized IP ownership, Tether has unveiled its AI-driven innovations. CEO Paolo Ardoino recently shared three short videos demonstrating Tether’s upcoming AI applications for desktop and mobile. These innovations include an AI-powered translator, a voice assistant, and a Bitcoin wallet assistant.
