MicroStrategy has reinforced its position as the largest corporate Bitcoin holder by purchasing an additional 1,070 BTC for $101 million at an average acquisition price of $94,004 per Bitcoin.
In its latest investor filing, the company reported a Bitcoin yield of 48% for Q4 2024 and 74.3% for the full year. As of January 5, MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin holdings stand at 447,470 BTC, acquired at a total cost of $27.97 billion, averaging $62,503 per Bitcoin.

On January 3, Microstrategy announced plans to raise $2 billion through a perpetual preferred stock offering. However, it clarified that this new initiative is separate from its earlier announcement of the ambitious “21/21” strategy, which focuses on expanding its Bitcoin holdings by raising $21 billion in equity and $21 billion in fixed-income instruments. The proceeds from this latest offering will be used to strengthen the company’s balance sheet alongside that plan, the company claimed.
Michael Saylor, co-founder and executive chairman of MicroStrategy, is a staunch advocate for Bitcoin, making it a key part of the company’s strategy. Saylor is a well-known corporate voice for digital assets and has championed it as a global humanitarian tool, emphasizing its potential to benefit all holders.
“If you accumulate a lot of wealth in Bitcoin and you just burn the keys when you leave, you are making a pro-rata contribution to everyone that owns Bitcoin in the world,” Saylor said in a recent interview with Fox.
In a related development, Saylor recently met Eric Trump, son of President-elect Donald Trump, at Mar-a-Lago. Trump shared the encounter on Twitter, describing it as “two friends, one passion: Bitcoin,” while Saylor retweeted, adding, “Bitcoin is on the menu at Mar-a-Lago.” Although details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the meeting has sparked speculation about the incoming Trump administration’s stance on cryptocurrency policies and Bitcoin’s potential role in the U.S. economy.
