Metaplanet, listed in Tokyo, has launched a novel shareholder benefit program in collaboration with SBI VC Trade, a subsidiary of SBI Holdings. The program implements a lottery system that rewards shareholders with Bitcoin, representing a distinctive approach to shareholder incentives.
On December 2, the Japanese investment firm announced a new initiative on X that will enhance shareholder value by offering Bitcoin-related rewards. This move highlights its commitment to leveraging strategic partnerships within the cryptocurrency sector.
Metaplanet’s program offers Bitcoin rewards to shareholders who hold at least 100 shares as of December 31. New account holders with SBI VC Trade between November 18, 2023, and March 31, 2025, are also eligible for the rewards. To qualify for the program, participants must register on a dedicated website by March 31, 2025. they stated that this initiative highlights its commitment to enhancing shareholder value through strategic partnerships while promoting the adoption and utility of Bitcoin.
The firm will distribute a total of 30 million yen (approximately $199,500) in Bitcoin to 2,350 shareholders through a lottery. The prizes include 50 rewards of 100,000 yen (about $664) in Bitcoin, 100 rewards of 30,000 yen (around $200) in Bitcoin, and 2,200 rewards of 10,000 yen (approximately $66.50) in Bitcoin.
According to the announcement, Metaplanet’s partnership with SBI VC Trade has led to a 4.58% increase in its share price (MTPLF), which has now reached 16, based on data from OTC Markets Group.
This development follows Metaplanet’s recent announcement of plans to raise 62 million through stock acquisition rights offered to EVO Fund. The proceeds are intended to bolster the company’s Bitcoin holdings for treasury management. On November 28, Metaplanet announced plans to issue 29,000 units of stock acquisition rights, allowing the EVO Fund to purchase 100 common shares per unit. Each right is priced at 614 yen, totalling 17,806,000 yen in issuance value.
