Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been announced as a speaker at the Bitcoin 2024 conference, which will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 25 to 27.
The event, known as one of the largest gatherings in the Bitcoin world, will feature an array of influential political figures, including prominent U.S. politicians like presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Republican Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn.
Trump’s vocal support for the cryptocurrency and blockchain sectors has been evident in recent months. During a speech at Mar-a-Lago, he committed to championing bitcoin mining if re-elected president, emphasizing his desire for “all the remaining Bitcoin to be MADE IN THE USA.” Trump suggested that such a move would enhance the country’s energy independence while positioning Bitcoin as America’s “last line of defence” against the implementation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
At the 2024 Libertarian National Convention held in at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C., Trump delivered a passionate address outlining his vision for the future of cryptocurrency in the United States. He vowed to halt President Joe Biden’s supposed “crusade to crush crypto,” ensuring that digital currencies like Bitcoin would thrive within the country.
“I will ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in the USA, not driven overseas,”
Trump stated.
This lineup of speakers at the Bitcoin 2024 conference underscores the increasing interest and importance attached to the cryptocurrency industry in the United States.
Notably, Jesse Powell, co-founder and chairman of the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, recently donated $1 million in Ethereum (ETH) to support Trump’s presidential campaign.
Powell expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the U.S. cryptocurrency industry and criticized federal executives such as SEC Chair Gary Gensler and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, as well as the Biden administration, for what he perceives as antagonistic and overly restrictive actions toward the crypto sector.
