Taiwanese higher institution National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) has partnered with cryptocurrency firm Tether to enhance blockchain and digital asset education through its “Blockchain & Digital Asset” program.
The program, initially launched in NTUT’s College of Management, has quickly become one of the most sought-after offerings in the Information and Finance department. With over 110 students enrolled, the program’s success has sparked interest from other universities seeking similar partnerships with Tether.
The institution’s collaboration with Tether is expected to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of cryptocurrencies and digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC) and stablecoins like Tether’s USDT and related emerging technologies.
According to Tether, in a recent press release, the program’s curriculum will be redesigned and upgraded to empower students to independently analyze and assess information in the cryptocurrency space and equip them with practical skills necessary for responsible participation in the digital asset ecosystem such as how to identify potential scams and understand associated risks.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, also emphasized the initiative’s goal to prepare the next generation of blockchain professionals in Taiwan. He stated, “By focusing on comprehensive knowledge, [we aim] to work hand-in-hand with these prestigious universities to empower the next generation of blockchain professionals in the region.”
This partnership between NTUT and Tether aligns with a growing trend of integrating cryptocurrency education into higher learning institutions. It follows closely on the heels of a recent collaboration between Unchained Capital Inc. and the University of Austin, Texas (UATX), which established the first-ever Bitcoin-denominated endowment fund at a higher education institution. This pioneering initiative, announced on May 31, aims to raise $5 million to be invested in Bitcoin for at least five years, further integrating cryptocurrency into the realm of higher education.
