OKX Surpasses 10,000 New User Registrations in Hong Kong Following Launch of Enhanced App

OKX has achieved a remarkable feat in Hong Kong’s digital asset space. Within just a month of unveiling its enhanced app exclusively for local users, the platform recorded over 10,000 new user registrations.

OKX released the enhanced app to the public in May 2023; the app offered Hong Kong users a seamless and user-friendly experience to purchase, trade, and securely store 16 major cryptocurrencies.

Lennix Lai, the Chief Commercial Officer of OKX Global, expressed great satisfaction with the positive response of the exchange’s Hong Kong users. Lai attributed the impressive sign-up metrics to the market’s sophistication and discernment in selecting digital asset platforms. He emphasized that meeting regulatory obligations is crucial to establishing user trust and fostering the future growth of the crypto market.

Lai also hinted at OKX’s plans to introduce more exciting products and experiences for Hong Kong users. He stated:

“Going forward, we hope to launch more exciting products and experiences for Hong Kong users in accordance with regulatory requirements.“

In March 2023, OKX unveiled the launch of its Hong Kong subsidiary, OKX Hong Kong, with the primary goal of obtaining the VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) licence and operating as a virtual asset trading platform within Hong Kong.

Over the past 18 months, OKX has dedicated substantial resources to talent acquisition, innovation, technology, compliance, and system security. These preparations were made to ensure a strong application for the VASP licence.

This impressive feat makes OKX the first exchange in Hong Kong to reach this significant milestone following the enforcement of the city’s new VASPs regime.

To celebrate this momentous achievement, OKX Hong Kong has announced that it will host an event in collaboration with the Hong Kong Branch of Manchester City Official Supporters Club on Saturday, July 22, 2023. The event will feature an exhibition of Manchester City-themed collectibles, engaging talks from local football legends Siu Ki Chan and Wai Ho Chan, as well as interactive games.
