OKX has joined forces with Komainu to integrate the Komainu Connect collateral management platform into its crypto exchange platform. This integration will allow users to conduct secure and seamless trading of segregated assets held in custody through the OKX platform.
Komainu, a regulated digital asset custody service provider, introduced the Connect platform in April 2023 to address counterparty risks for its clients. By leveraging this innovative solution, customers no longer need to store collateral with their trading partners. Instead, they can opt to securely safeguard their assets in custody, ensuring peace of mind and regulatory compliance.
Nicolas Bertrand, CEO of Komainu, emphasized that the newly formed partnership signifies a significant achievement in their ongoing efforts to provide secure and compliant digital asset custody solutions. He further highlighted that the partnership with OKX, a well-known cryptocurrency exchange with expertise in institutional-level custody services, lays the groundwork for a transformative era of trust and innovation in the industry.
Lennix Lai, the Global Chief Commercial Officer at OKX, highlighted the importance of asset security for institutional investors. He stated that while investors seek the reassurance of a reputable custodian, they also need the flexibility to capitalize on investment opportunities and maximize returns. According to Lai, the partnership with Komainu enables investors to achieve both objectives simultaneously.
Lai stated:
“That is why we are delighted to partner with Komainu to allow investors a way to keep their assets secure while not compromising on returns.”
Sebastian Widmann, the Head of Strategy at Komainu, emphasized the growing prominence of Komainu Connect as a leading collateral management solution. Widmann described the partnership with OKX as evidence of the exceptional infrastructure and expertise dedicated to this service. The primary focus remains the seamless execution of operations for all parties involved.
In addition to the collaboration with Komainu, OKX has also partnered with Copper.co, a provider of digital asset custody services, to offer institutional clients off-exchange settlements through Copper’s ClearLoop technology. The integration of ClearLoop with OKX enables institutional users from both companies to securely store their assets within Copper’s infrastructure while maintaining the ability to authorize trading on OKX.
These partnerships reflect OKX’s push to serve more institutional investors and provide secure custody solutions and seamless trading experiences.
