OKX, a leading Web3 technology firm and crypto exchange, has unveiled a groundbreaking upgrade to its OKX Wallet and NFT Marketplace. The new upgrade allows users to view and transfer Bitcoin (BTC) ordinals, making OKX the first multi-chain platform to support this feature.
The upgraded OKX Wallet is now a multi-chain wallet that provides users easy access to multiple capabilities. Instead of managing them separately using a Bitcoin-only wallet, the upgraded wallet supports BTC taproot addresses, and thus, users can import their BTC wallets and view their Bitcoin ordinals.
According to the press release, the new functionality is active in the OKX Wallet browser extension and will soon be available on the mobile app.
Haider Rafique, OKX’s Chief Marketing Officer, explained that the OKX Wallet was designed to be the most user-friendly and interoperable all-in-one crypto wallet. He emphasized that the emergence of ordinals in the Bitcoin ecosystem created the need for prompt action to welcome the community and provide them with a seamless experience in storing, managing, and even minting ordinals using OKX’s wallet services.
“I hope this integration helps bring more people into play with this new utility and discover new possibilities on top of Bitcoin,”
Rafique remarked.
Jason Lau, OKX’s Chief Innovation Officer, noted that they had been closely monitoring the rise in Bitcoin ordinals activity. He added that they are thrilled to offer users a hassle-free way to view and engage with their NFTs on various chains. Lau also pointed out that incorporating BTC Taproot addresses would make transactions more affordable and compatible with OKX Wallet users.
OKX recently integrated advanced multi-party computation (MPC) technology into its OKX Wallet, making it the world’s first Web3 wallet to feature MPC. The integration also included an innovative asset recovery feature called Independent Emergency Escape, which allows users to recover their assets independently without needing assistance from OKX.
The latest OKX Wallet upgrade reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering secure and user-friendly crypto wallet services to its customers. By integrating BTC ordinals, OKX has made it easier for users to manage their Bitcoin assets, and the incorporation of BTC Taproot addresses will enhance transaction efficiency and affordability.
