Gate.io has partnered with CityPay.io, a Georgia-based business that specializes in cryptocurrency payments, to launch a new cryptocurrency payment service called Gate Pay. The partnership will allow over 600 businesses in Georgia to offer their customers the option of paying with cryptocurrency for their goods and services.
Gate Pay customers will be able to transact with various businesses across Georgia, including hotel reservations, grocery shopping, and restaurant payments. One of CityPay.io’s partners, Wendy’s, will also accept cryptocurrency payments from its customers.
The Director of Gate Pay, Feng Zhou, said that the launch of the new service aimed to bridge the gap between Web3 and people’s daily lives by connecting consumers with cryptocurrency-friendly companies, goods, and services. To provide crypto payment services to retailers, the Gate Pay team has collaborated with partners such as CityPay.
The partnership between Gate Pay and CityPay.io will enable a broader range of local retailers and customers to experience Web3 shopping. The experience and user base of Gate Pay, combined with the business network and geographic coverage of CityPay.io in Georgia, make this possible.
Founded in 2013, Gate.io offers comprehensive crypto trading products and fiat-to-crypto exchange services to over 13 million users worldwide. The partnership with CityPay.io will provide increased application scenarios for Gate Pay users, particularly in the European region.
Georgia has become one of the most crypto-friendly nations globally, and its policies have attracted crypto businesses to open regional branches there. The Georgian government aims to transform the country into a significant global crypto hub.
Last month, Gate.io announced its intention to launch its Gate Visa debit card to simplify bitcoin transactions for consumers making real-world purchases. The debit card will allow customers to convert their bitcoin holdings into fiat currency and conduct in-person and online transactions with ease.
