On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Salesforce launched its Web 3.0 service, allowing its clients to create, manage, and market NFTs on a blockchain platform. Salesforce believes NFTs can help companies explore new audiences and collect zero-party data. They mentioned that NFTs could unlock co-creation and co-ownership, token-gated communities, and personalized engagement by utilizing wallet data.
Salesforce also stated that it is exploring privacy approaches that go beyond the conventional Web2 privacy model. They aim to implement privacy functionalities that are specific to Web3, such as consent tokens or verifiable credentials.
According to Adam Caplan, GM of Web3 at Salesforce, the changing regulations and Apple’s evolving cookie policies make Facebook and brands reluctant to transact with certain organizations. He believes the crypto wallet has become a potent tool that will allow direct engagement with customers and provide access to first-party data.
This partnership comes after a successful pilot program launched by Salesforce during the Salesforce Connections Conference in Chicago. The pilot program was aimed at corporate clients interested in generating and exchanging NFTs and involved prominent brands such as Crown Royal, Scotch & Soda, and Mattel. The program processed more than 250,000 transactions.
In recent months, Polygon has formed partnerships with major companies, including Starbucks, Square Enix from Japan, and Lotte Group from South Korea. These partnerships aim to support the development of Web3 services, which involves transforming the internet into a decentralized blockchain-based platform that can host virtual reality, the metaverse, and other similar services.
