Opera, a Web3 browser, recently unveiled a new set of security tools designed to reduce common risks brought on by malicious users operating within the Web3 ecosystem.

Opera claims that its new set of security tools known as Web3 Guard, a collection of browser security features, will protect users from dangerous decentralized applications (DApps), seed phrase phishing attacks, and malicious people.
The built-in security tools would check for any seed phrase phishing attacks by analyzing websites for obvious signs of exploit, such as frequent phishing keywords and attributes, without jeopardizing users’ privacy or personal data.
According to Opera, users of the Opera Web3 browser can access dApps just as easily as they can access any other Web2 platform. Opera outlined how users can determine whether a certain dApp is safe to use; Dapp Check, a key component of Web3 Guard that checks for known security concerns related to decentralized applications (dApps), was mentioned. This includes determining whether it was created by a malicious user, contains suspicious code, or has been audited.
Danny Yao, Senior Product Manager at Opera, stated:
“The current browsers most people use today are not built to handle the complexity of Web3. With this release, we make a big leap forward with dedicated security features that enable people to use Web3 applications in a safer way.”
Additionally, the Opera Web3 browser now supports sending and receiving cryptocurrency through Unstoppable Domains, MultiversX, and NEAR token support in the Opera Crypto Wallet and Binance Connect P2P payments to make crypto more accessible to users in emerging economies.
