Gate.io has taken a significant step towards expanding its services to the United States after obtaining the necessary regional licenses.
Gate U.S. asserted that it had obtained licenses from FinCEN to operate as a money service company as well as permits to conduct business in several U.S. states prior to its local debut.
The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), the country’s regulator for money laundering and financial crimes, has confirmed that Gate U.S. has been registered as a money services business with them. These developments were confirmed by Dr. Lin Han, the founder and president of Gate.io.
Dr. Lin Han stated:
“Gate U.S. is committed to regulatory compliance. In alignment with such commitments, Gate U.S. has proactively registered as a money services business with FinCEN and obtained some money transmission licenses or similar to operate, and is currently working to obtain more.”
Lin Han stated that the exchange has obtained licenses for money transfers or similar activities and is now working to secure additional licenses.
Gate U.S. is currently not accepting users from the United States but did not specify which states it has licenses for. However, according to its terms of use, residents of New York, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico will not be able to access it.
With the expertise of its senior management in this industry, Gate U.S. aims to become the leading cryptocurrency exchange in the United States. In order to gain the trust and confidence of American consumers, Gate U.S. will prioritize security and transparency.
