We are seeking an experienced and talented Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of editorial disciplines and be highly knowledgeable about the rapidly evolving crypto sector.
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the entire content and editorial process for a global digital publication on Web3 including Blockchain Technology, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and the Crypto-economy.

Salary: ₦180,000 per month. Plus a discretionary annual bonus.
Job Description / Role Requirements
- Responsible for overseeing the entire editorial process, including content strategy, allocating article topics, editing draft pieces, and ensuring quality standards.
- Line management of a team of Writers and Editorial Associates. Give constructive and actionable feedback to direct reports to ensure published content meets DeFi Planet’s high editorial standards.
- Publication Management: Ensure smooth workflow in content publication, track in-article image assets, reconcile errors, and manage content notifications.
- Review all article types – News Report (NR), Market Analysis (MA), Long-Form Article (LFA) – and approve them for publication.
- Conduct SEO research to identify trends and areas of interest from online searches to inform the content strategy of DeFi Planet. Use analytics data to understand what users want and seek to fill gaps in the market.
- Content Audit & Optimization: Conduct monthly content audits to test content positioning, refine articles, create content collections, and improve ranking performance.
- Develop Interview-based articles with external guests including drafting questions and editing the answers to meet DeFi Planet standards.
- Review scripts for DeFi Planet Weekly Newsletter, and for our audio podcast show, ‘DeFi Planet Podcast’. Review long-form posts for our social media channels.
- Ensure the team conducts in-depth research into crypto-related topics, including blockchain projects, crypto platforms, DeFi protocols, NFTs, DAOs, crypto gaming, crypto metaverses, etc., and track emerging trends in the blockchain sector.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory and public policy developments in the crypto space, including regulation and CBDCs.
- Support the management team to develop the business, expand into new areas and build positive 3rd party relationships.
Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant area, e.g., English, Journalism, Media, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Law, etc.
- Native English speaker with excellent communication skills. Impeccable editing skills and great attention to detail.
- At least 2 years of experience as a content editor, or researcher. Ideally a background in online journalism or content creation.
- Experience in writing and editing in English for a digital publication. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent knowledge of SEO and content marketing.
- An excellent grasp of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. An enthusiastic individual who is passionate about technology, innovation, blockchain, and the crypto economy.
- A pro-active and self-motivated professional with a “can do” attitude who is curious and wants to add long-term business value.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and operational qualities.
