WEMIX, a gaming protocol has unveiled the WEMIX Kanvas, an Ethereum-based Layer 2 chain based on the work of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-equivalent Zero Knowledge (ZK) Rollup. The launch is part of the protocol’s plan to build a mega blockchain ecosystem.
The deployment of the WEMIX Kanvas will occur in two stages: an Optimistic Rollup with ZK Fault Proof, followed by an EVM-equivalent Rollup. This approach will prevent rollup limitations and technical difficulties. This deployment is slated for Q1 2023.
The WEMIX Kanvas will enable the interoperability of Layer 2 chains with the WEMIX ecosystem, serving as the bridge that connects them. The transition to an EVM-compatible Rollup is to enable compatibility with Ethereum-based decentralized applications (dApps). It would also allow seamless onboarding of new dApps on the protocol
The Rollup speeds up transactions on the network and reduces network fees. This enables dApps that have issues using the Ethereum ecosystem due to high gas fees to migrate to the WEMIX Kanvas.
Shane Kim, CEO of WEMIX commented on the launch saying:
“As a global leader with great success in blockchain gaming, WEMIX had launched our own mainnet to create a bigger ecosystem, not just in the blockchain gaming sector”
WEMIX is a blockchain protocol for dApps, primarily for gaming. It provides users with wallets to interact with Web3 games and aims to create a blockchain gaming ecosystem that provides users with value.
The protocol is home to multiple games such as Crypto Ball Z, Every Farm, Four Gods and others. WEMIX has also made several investments into game startups like Old Fashion Research (OFR) crypto fund.
