Wirex, a leading cryptocurrency payments platform, has entered into a strategic and long-term international partnership with payment giant Visa. As part of this agreement, Wirex will join Visa in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and the UK, allowing it to immediately issue crypto-enabled debit and prepaid cards to over 40 nations.
This partnership will enable Wirex and Visa to work together more effectively in key markets such as the Asia Pacific, the UK, Europe, and the USA. Wirex, as a member of Visa, now has the opportunity to explore new blockchain projects, offer innovative products for everyday cryptocurrency use, and improve its overall user experience.
Svyatoslav Garal, Regional Managing Director of Wirex APAC, expressed his excitement about strengthening the partnership with Visa, which has been crucial in bridging the gap between the traditional and digital industries. He stated that, with Visa’s commitment to innovation, security, and safety, they would continue to create cutting-edge apps and cards.
Since being named a finalist for the SFF Global Fintech Awards at the Singapore Fintech Festival in November 2022, Wirex has seen significant growth in the Asia Pacific region and boasts its largest customer base in the UK. This partnership is expected to help Wirex continue to make the benefits of cryptocurrency accessible to everyone.
Matt Wood, Head of Digital Partnerships for Asia Pacific at Visa, stated that the company aims to provide customers with more payment options by integrating digital currencies into its network of banks and retailers.
Wood noted that Visa is pleased that Wirex is focusing more on the Asia Pacific and making it easy for users to use their cryptocurrency assets with the millions of Visa-accepting businesses in the region.
