World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has seen its portfolio plummet by $110 million in unrealized losses, according to blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence.
WLFI’s initial investment of $336 million across nine cryptocurrencies has now dropped to approximately $226 million, with Ethereum accounting for most losses. The company purchased Ethereum at an average price of $3,240 per token. Still, with ETH currently trading around $2,000 as of March 10, its holdings are down an estimated $80.85 million—nearly 37% of the total investment.
Among WLFI’s other assets, Tron has shown the most resilience, declining by just 5%. In contrast, other tokens in its portfolio—including stETH ($10.27M), WHITE ($5.87M), Movement ($3.5M), and Ondo ($296,000)—have all contributed to the platform’s financial setback.
Despite these losses, WLFI continues to expand its portfolio actively. On March 6, the company acquired an additional $21.5 million worth of Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, and Movement Network tokens. The fund purchased 4,468 Ethereum for $10 million, with an average price of $2,238 per coin. It also acquired 110.6 Wrapped Bitcoin for another $10 million for $90,420 per coin and 3.42 million Movement tokens for $1.5 million, at a rate of $0.439 each.
Furthermore, WLFI has partnered strategically with Sui, a blockchain founded by former Meta developers, to explore opportunities in decentralized finance (DeFi). While some industry observers see this move as an attempt to diversify its investments, others question the true motivation behind the collaboration.
Founded in 2024, WLFI has rapidly positioned itself as a key player in DeFi. Trump, his family, and close allies collectively control over 60% of the project. The platform has also drawn strong investor interest, raising $300 million during a token sale in January 2025.
Meanwhile, as Trump’s administration pushes forward with plans to establish a strategic cryptocurrency reserve for the U.S., critics warn that his deepening influence in the digital asset space could pose potential conflicts of interest.
