EigenLayer has taken a major step forward by enabling its Actively Validated Services (AVSs) to operate on networks beyond Ethereum, starting with Base.
The protocol announced the launch of this Multi-Chain Verification feature via its EigenCloud X account on July 24.
Previously, AVSs could only function on Ethereum’s mainnet, limiting their scalability due to high transaction fees and slower processing speeds. With this update, developers can now deploy AVSs on Layer 2 networks like Base by making minimal adjustments to contract parameters.

The Multi-Chain Verification feature is now available as a public preview on Base Sepolia, the testnet version of Base. This will allow developers to test AVSs in multi-chain environments before the feature is released to the mainnet in the coming months. According to EigenLayer, operator data will be refreshed daily, while urgent updates, such as slashing events or node operator removals, will be synced instantly across supported chains.
This release is part of EigenLayer’s broader strategy to establish what it calls a “verifiable cloud” for decentralized applications and services. Since rebranding its infrastructure to EigenCloud in June, the protocol has amassed over $17 billion worth of staked ETH and EIGEN tokens according to DeFiLlama data, positioning itself as a critical layer within the web3 ecosystem.
The new feature arrives just days after EigenCloud introduced its Redistribution tool on July 22, allowing AVSs to allocate slashed funds toward user rewards or loss recovery instead of permanently burning them. Recent technical upgrades, such as support for the BLS12-381 cryptographic curve and the MOOCOW validator efficiency update, further enhance the platform’s scalability and reduce operating costs.
EigenLayer continues to deepen its network by partnering with key players, including Infura, LayerZero (ZRO), and Pier Two, the latter managing over $1 billion in delegated assets. Through these rapid developments, EigenCloud is building robust, flexible, and secure solutions for developers deploying applications across multiple chains.
Earlier this year, EigenLayer introduced its new Protocol Council to enhance platform security and manage the review process for EigenLayer Improvement Proposals.
