Uniswap v4 is Now Live On Multiple Chains including Ethereum

Uniswap Labs has officially launched its much-anticipated “Uniswap v4,” the latest upgrade of the popular DEX.

The launch was announced today, January 31, 2025, via an X post, confirming that v4 is now live on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Base, BNB Chain, Blast, World Chain, Avalanche, and Zora Network. Users and liquidity providers can now deposit funds via the Uniswap web app, while token swapping will be rolled out gradually as liquidity migrates to the new version.

First announced in June 2023, Uniswap v4 brings a range of improvements designed to enhance user experience, reduce costs, and increase capital efficiency. According to Uniswap Labs, the upgrade will make pool creation 99.99% cheaper, boost capital efficiency, cut gas costs, and introduce native ETH support.

The upgrade will also introduce features such as Hooks, dynamic fees, and flash accounting to the DEX. Among these, the Hooks feature is particularly anticipated. Hooks are smart contract plugins that enable developers to customize the functionality of liquidity pools, swaps, fees, and positions. This allows users to create new features like dynamic fees, automated liquidity strategies, or unique trading mechanisms. The developers have reported that over 150 Hooks were built during the beta phase.

Also, Uniswap v4 builds on v3’s security track record, with the team emphasizing its rigorous auditing process, which included a $2.35 million security competition with over 500 participants and a $15.5 million bug bounty program. Notably, Uniswap v3, launched in May 2021, introduced concentrated liquidity, allowing providers to allocate liquidity within specific price ranges. Since then, it has processed over $2.75 trillion in trading volume with “zero hacks,” according to developers.

Notably, Uniswap Labs had hinted at the v4 launch earlier this month, though it did not provide a specific timeline. In a January 1 X post, the company teased that 2025 would be a “very pink year”, suggesting additional major updates beyond v4.
