In a strategic move aimed at enhancing its brand identity, the decentralized blockchain oracle, Goracle, has decided to rebrand itself as “Gora.”
Initially known as “Algoracle,” the decentralized blockchain oracle adopted the “Goracle” identity in May 2022 to eliminate any potential confusion with the Algorand blockchain.
In an official statement, the company highlighted that the shift from “Algoracle” to “Goracle” marked a significant stride in establishing its unique character. However, the company acknowledged that “Goracle” often suffered mispronunciation as “G-Oracle” and lacked the desired specificity within the broader blockchain oracle landscape.
The company conveyed its motivation behind the new name, stating, “It’s time to take another major step forward in our journey and have our name reflect the essence of what we do… We wanted a name that would not just be memorable but also stand out in the Blockchain Oracle sector.”
The decision to adopt “Gora” as the new identity draws inspiration from Sanskrit, a sacred language of Hinduism, where the term translates to “mountain” or “elevated.” The company noted its choice of the name was intended to embody the oracle’s core attributes of strength and stability while preserving the familiarity it has cultivated among its user base.
Gora assured its community that, despite undergoing a name change, its commitment to pushing the boundaries of Oracle technology remains unwavering.
Interestingly, the new name now corresponds with the company’s native token, which is also known as “$GORA Token.” The company stressed that this correlation highlights the seamless integration of its visionary approach with the pragmatic dimensions of its ecosystem.
In July 2023, Gora successfully launched its mainnet and subsequently shifted its attention to the second phase of its Incentivized Testnet. The focus of this phase is to develop innovative features and seamlessly integrate new decentralized applications (dApps).
Gora is currently testing an eSport dApp called KiX.digital, which is based on the Polygon blockchain.
