Binance recently announced that it had obtained the highly respected ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications. These certifications, which focus on information security governance and privacy information management, were granted to Binance in three jurisdictions: France, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The external auditor responsible for assessing Binance’s security and privacy practices was A-LIGN, a technology-driven security and compliance ISO partner. Following a comprehensive evaluation of Binance’s operations in the countries mentioned above, A-LIGN awarded Binance with the ISO certifications, confirming that the exchange met the rigorous criteria necessary to obtain these credentials.
Jimmy Su, Chief Security Officer at Binance, highlighted the significance of these globally recognized certifications, stating that they provide reassurance to Binance users that their assets and information are safeguarded in accordance with the latest global standards. Su also emphasized the continuous efforts of Binance’s experienced security professionals to enhance the security measures to protect the blockchain ecosystem.
Stewart Thompson, Chief Data Protection Officer at Binance, noted that the close collaboration between the data protection team and other key departments, such as security, legal, compliance, and operations, ensures that Binance adheres to the most rigorous international privacy standards.
Thompson expressed satisfaction that the teams’ efforts were recognized with the award of these credentials, as it represents an important step in elevating security and privacy standards within the blockchain industry.
Moving forward, Binance will undergo annual surveillance assessments to maintain ongoing compliance with the requirements outlined in the ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications.
The crypto exchange also plans to expand its certification coverage to include other domains and obtain more internationally recognized security, privacy, and compliance certifications. This commitment to continuous improvement underscores Binance’s dedication to upholding the highest standards of security and privacy for its users and the broader cryptocurrency community.
