Edward Snowden, a National Security Agency whistleblower, has offered to take the position of Twitter CEO and is willing to accept payment in Bitcoin. He expressed his opinion in a tweet after Twitter CEO Elon Musk asked for suggestions on how to keep the platform alive and running smoothly.
The social media giant recently implemented a new policy that prohibited the promotion of other social media networks like Facebook, Instagram, Nostr, link-in-bio tools like Linktree, and others on its platform, leading to backlash from users.
Aaron Levie, a Twitter user, said, “this is just sad.” Elon responded by asking him what he thought the policy should be. Other users also gave Musk advice on how he should run the company. Whole Mars Catalog told Elon to hire someone as the new Twitter CEO so he would have total control over Twitter and have a person to blame when things go wrong on the platform.
Twitter ultimately took down the page detailing the policy change and initiated a poll asking users for their opinions on banning accounts created to promote other social media networks.
Snowden says he recognizes the value in using digital assets such as Bitcoin but does not encourage their use for investment purposes. At the CoinDesk 2022 conference, he revealed he had used Bitcoin for payments on servers pseudonymously in 2013.
