Binance Labs has made a $4 million investment in Ultimate Champions, a new fantasy sports app. Binance announced this investment via a blog post. The funding will help Ultimate Champions expand their reach, develop more games, and advance the Web3 Sports sector.
The CEO of Binance Labs, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) is known for investing in Web3 projects that have the potential to solve real-world problems. In light of this development, Ultimate Champions will switch from the Polygon network to the BNB Chain.
The reason for this migration is to support the game by making it available to a wider audience, as the BNB Chain is one of the most popular chains. Alex Odagiu, the Investment Director at Binance Labs commented saying:
“We see the massive potential that Web3 brings to the way sports clubs, players and their fans connect with each other online. On top of using digital collectibles as a medium for fan engagement, Ultimate Champions supports a player-centric gameplay and a walletless [sic] onboarding,This mechanism not only facilitates more flexible and long-lasting ways for players to engage with their favourite sports clubs, but also makes blockchain gaming ever more accessible. We look forward to working with the Ultimate Champions team to bring greater benefits to gamers of all stripes.”
Ultimate Champions is a Play-to-Earn (P2E) football game. It allows players to leverage their football skills to build the best team and compete with other teams. Rewards are in the form of tokens and NFTs. Game items used have value in the game and outside the game. The goal is to make players truly own assets won in the game. The ambition of Ultimate Champions is to:
“Bring play-to-earn games to the masses. We plan to focus on football first and build an accessible cross-league fantasy football game.
Once we’re done building a fantasy football game we are proud of, we will expand our ecosystem with additional fantasy sports.”
Ultimate Champions partners with over 45 football clubs and recently signed an exclusive deal with EuroLeague, a professional basketball company in Europe. Ultimate Champions aspires to bring innovation to other sports aside from football.
