Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has launched Horizon Worlds, its metaverse app, in Spain and France.
These are the first European countries to use the features of this metaverse app.
It was initially released to a small group of people in 2020 to test the app’s features and integrity. It decided to remove the invite-only option in 2021 and make its services available to all residents of Canada and the United States.
Horizon Worlds is currently only available in two European countries: Spain and France.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s co-founder and CEO stated, “We’re launching Horizon Worlds in France and Spain today! Looking forward to seeing people explore and build immersive worlds, and to bring this to more countries soon.”
The app is only available to those over 18 who live in the countries listed above. Individuals are expected to use the Horizon Worlds’ VR headsets to access this metaverse.
According to the announcement blog, Horizon Worlds is an “immersive social experience where you can explore, play and create together.”
The release has elicited various reactions, with some users expecting more from the metaverse app.
A comic writer that goes by the name @ordinarytings stated,
“Mark Zuckerberg launches Horizon Worlds in France and Spain with an eye-gougingly ugly VR selfie. Meta’s metaverse ploy is surely dying in the dark.”
