Ruja Ignatova, the founder, and mastermind of the popular scam Onecoin has been named one of Europe’s most wanted individuals. She is renowned as the “crypto queen,” as she built an infamous crypto pyramid scheme that fleeced unsuspecting victims of billions of dollars.
Ruja reportedly disappeared five years ago, and European authorities are seeking assistance in locating her.
To encourage the public to provide information on her whereabouts, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation, Europol, has announced a bounty of up to €5,000 ($5,200) to anyone who provides credible information leading to her arrest.
This reward was published on the EU’s most wanted website, where the founder of Onecoin was described as a doctor of law and is accused of duping people by convincing them to buy a worthless cryptocurrency.
According to the announcement,
“The fraud-related loss established so far is in the upper double-digit million range. The loss caused on a global scale probably amounts to several billion USD.
The wanted person’s whereabouts have been unknown since October 25, 2017, and she has not appeared in public since this date, neither in connection with OneCoin nor otherwise.
Information wanted:
Have you seen Dr. Ruja IGNATOVA after October 25, 2017?
Can you provide information on the whereabouts of the wanted person? “
The reward is only available to private individuals who provide credible information leading to her arrest. Authorities have been unable to track her down for the past five years because she has remained out of the public eye.
One of Onecoin’s co-founders is Ruja’s brother, Konstantin Ignatov, who was arrested and charged with crimes in 2019. He is reportedly cooperating with the authorities to reduce his sentence.
