Gaming has evolved from players merely enjoying intriguing gameplay and spending money to purchase skins and collectibles to a world where participants are rewarded for being active. There is a need for a game guild in the blockchain gaming space. This article will analyze the crypto game guild ecosystem and Play-to-Earn games.

What are Play-to-Earn Games?

Blockchain gaming comes in different variants, and one of the popular types is the Play-to-Earn game. Play-to-Earn games are blockchain games that come with gameplay and means to earn revenue. Typically, these games have varied minimum prerequisites to begin, as well as potential rewards.

Play-to-Earn games may request an initial minimum requirement. For example, in Axie Infinity, players have to possess three Axies, which are NFTs, before they can start the game. Usually, the required Axies cost thousands of dollars. Gaming enthusiasts who can’t afford them may depend on scholarships from individuals or gaming guilds.

Some NFT gaming platforms offer varying reward systems, which may be cryptocurrencies, NFTs, or both. In the case of Axie Infinity, the gamer has access to both cryptocurrencies and NFTs, which can be sold on crypto exchanges and NFT Marketplaces.

The dream of some young adults is to make money while playing video games. This was only possible for a few players, as the only way to achieve this was to become an eSports gamer, which was almost impossible. Times have changed, and with the development of Play-to-Earn gaming ecosystems, the barriers to entry into the space have decreased.

For instance, in the Philippines, several residents have taken to Play-to-Earn platforms like Axie Infinity to earn a living.

What is a Blockchain Gaming Guild?

Traditional guilds existed before crypto gaming guilds, governing the affairs of regular video games. Usually, traditional guilds focus on a single game, creating a haven for users of that game to interact and even purchase skins and other collectibles.

Crypto gaming guilds, on the other hand, are platforms that allow both new and experienced gamers to interact with one another. Usually, this type of gaming guild supports new gamers with scholarships, tutorials, and much more for multiple play-to-earn games. An example is Yield Guild Games (YGG).

Many of these platforms provide the initial minimum requirements for gamers in various NFT gaming ecosystems such as Axies, as well as strategies to win in the game.

What to Expect In A Gaming Guild?

Those who join gaming guilds benefit in a variety of ways. If the user has the guild’s native tokens or NFTs, they can become members. The benefits accessible to gaming guilds depend on their principles and use cases.

• Community

Gaming guilds act as a community for like-minded players. It serves as a haven for gamers from all around the world to interact and share tips and collectibles. Sometimes, a community member may offer their value NFT like Axie to the gaming guild for passive income.

Communalism is popular in this type of ecosystem as it is designed to allow gamers to navigate the world of different play-to-earn platforms together.

• Scholarship

A major reason people flock into this type of guild is because of the scholarships offered by it. Getting into a Play-to-Earn ecosystem usually comes with a commitment on the player’s part. Most times, the average gaming enthusiast may be unable to afford these NFTs and cryptocurrencies required to access the ecosystem.

Gaming guilds have these NFTs and crypto assets in their portfolio, offering them to community members that are interested in playing different games. While the gamers navigate through the terrain of the ecosystem, they earn NFTs and tokens, which are shared in different percentages between the gaming guilds and the players.

• Tutorials

Gaming guilds also provide tutorial sessions to their community’s gamers. Every game has a unique storyline based on the creatures and their environments. Some examples of activities include breeding creatures and exploring the virtual world. Others may be combative and involve claiming their competitors’ resources.

The gamers require tutorials and tricks to navigate the terrain and climb the leaderboards. Those who are highly ranked, compared to others, receive a higher share of the daily reward pools.

• Earning opportunities

Some gaming guilds have multiple earning opportunities for their community members. Apart from offering scholarships, they may offer other GameFi functionalities such as staking of NFTs and native tokens, lending of NFTs, using NFTs as collateral, and much more.

Some gaming guilds offer presale features for upcoming games. For instance, on YGG, community members can participate in the presale session for NFT gaming startups with the hope that the value of their native tokens increases with time.

How to Join A Crypto Game Guild?

There are different ways to join gaming guilds. It could be as simple as filling out an application form on a website or joining their Discord channel.

Usually, these guilds provide training in the chosen game for a while before they offer a scholarship or spot. Decisions on whether a gamer will be chosen are based on their networking efforts and NFT gaming skills in the Discord channel.

Generally, many crypto gaming guilds, such as YGG require potential community members to join their Discord server and participate in different activities. This is common for those projects that are open and permissionless.

Axie Infinity is a popular Play-to-Earn game that is common in crypto guilds.

Different roles are assigned to community members in a gaming guild. Some of which include player, scholarship manager, researcher, and investor.

Player

When users join the scholarship program, they are given an account with the requirements such as Axies in the case of Axie Infinity to begin farming for SLP or Small Love Potions tokens.

Players are also called scholars, and once they are given the accounts, they start playing and earning NFTs or cryptocurrencies, which they share with the guild in different percentages.

Scholarship Managers

Not every community member in the gaming guild is a player. Some can decide to take the role of a scholarship manager. Usually, only those with experience in playing specific Play-to-Earn games are allowed to take this role. A scholarship manager must monitor existing scholars, recruit new ones and train them, offering them the necessary tricks.

On social media, it is common to see scholarship managers advertise the features of the guild and vacancies. They evaluate candidates and admit those who meet their criteria. Their job description also dictates that they train new gamers and monitor the progress of existing players.

In a typical gaming guild, there are in-house tournaments that serve as a training ground for scholars. These gamers participate and battle it out with others. Usually, those that are highly ranked in the guild are rewarded with better opportunities. Scholarship managers oversee these tournaments.

Researchers

Some participants in a guild may act as researchers. As the crypto gaming ecosystem grows, innovations regularly emerge. The role of a researcher is to search for these innovations in the GameFi sector. They analyze new crypto gaming startups with great potential and features. As part of their regular activities, they search for new opportunities for existing games and assets. When they spot gold mines, they pass it to other members of the community, especially the team behind the guild.

Investor

The Investors have varying roles in the game guild. Some offer their in-game assets like Axies to the gaming guild for a percentage of the winnings. This lease period may vary based on the guild. Some crypto guilds host presale sections for new gaming startups, allowing people to buy their tokens and NFTs before they go mainstream.

In Conclusion,

  • Gaming guilds are a big part of the crypto gaming ecosystem.
  • YGG is a popular crypto gaming guild showing consistent growth.
  • Community members have different roles in the gaming guild.
  • Joining a guild may be as simple as joining their Discord server.
