The crypto world is a volatile one, and a minor event can send everyone to a state of panic. This was what happened when Coinbase erroneously sent some of its users an email alert stating that a reset had been done to their 2FA settings.
This action drove 125,000 of its users into panic, which has caused a raucous in the crypto world. According to CNBC, a retiree- Don Pirtle sold off over $60,000 worth of his crypto when he received the email alert from Coinbase. It is believed that some holders did the same thing that he did.
After mistakenly sending out the first email, Coinbase sent out another email stating that the first was a mistake, but that didn’t stop some investors and enthusiasts from stating their minds on the incident.
Coinbase has made a tweet addressing the situation and mitigating the concerns of its users and the crypto community in general.
