On May 8, Treasury Secretary Scott K.H. Bessent will travel to Switzerland to advance U.S. economic interests and national security.
Bessent emphasized that “economic security is national security,” aligning with President Trump’s agenda for a stronger, more prosperous America.
Bessent will meet with Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter to follow up on discussions from the recent World Bank–IMF Spring Meetings.
The Secretary will also meet with the lead economic representative from the People’s Republic of China to address key bilateral and global economic issues.
The visit shows the U.S. commitment to rebalancing the international economic system in favour of American interests.
