Bhutan has launched a national crypto payment system for travellers—powered by Binance Pay and DK Bank, making it the first country to fully integrate digital assets into its tourism sector.
From airfare and visa fees to hotel stays, guided tours, cultural site entries, and even street fruit vendors, travellers can pay with over 100 cryptocurrencies through the Binance app.
Though tourists use crypto, local businesses receive payments in Bhutanese ngultrum. DK Bank handles instant conversions and settlements, ensuring a smooth, regulated process.
More than 100 local Bhutanese vendors have joined the platform, embracing crypto payments to modernize tourism and reach global travellers.
Binance CEO Richard Teng called the initiative a global model for crypto adoption, saying it shows how digital finance can connect cultures and support local economies.
