Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, is now the CEO of Block (previously known as Square). In November 2021, he stepped down as CEO of Twitter and left the board in May 2022.

In April 2020, Dorsey pledged to donate $1 billion, which amounted to 28% of his net worth at the time, to support COVID-19 relief and other charitable causes.

He fulfilled this promise through gifts of his Square stock. Dorsey co-founded Square with Jim McKelvey in 2009, and it became a publicly traded company in 2015. It was then renamed Block.
