Kraken has made another strategic move to bolster its presence in Europe with its acquisition of Coin Meester (BCM), one of the Netherlands’ oldest registered crypto brokerage firms.
This acquisition allows Kraken to strengthen its foothold in the Dutch market while also securing a virtual asset service provider (VASP) licence in France and Poland.
Brian Grahan, Kraken’s managing director for Europe, described the acquisition as a significant milestone in the exchange’s European growth strategy in an announcement on September 24.
“We are one of the very few in Europe that can combine global scale with a compliant offering and a superior client experience. Our clients stand to benefit as we empower them with the premium trading and investing experiences needed to unlock crypto’s full potential,”
the announcement read.
This news follows Kraken’s recent partnership with Tottenham Hotspur, which will see the crypto exchange become the Club’s first Official Crypto and Web3 Partner starting in the 2024/25 season. Kraken will also serve as the Official Sleeve Partner for both the Men’s and Women’s teams.
Kraken aims to enhance fan engagement through exclusive content, fan events, and behind-the-scenes access while also promoting a better understanding of cryptocurrency among football fans.
Commenting on the partnership, Bivu Das, Kraken’s UK Managing Director, said,
“This collaboration pushes crypto adoption forward by bridging knowledge gaps and empowering more people to achieve financial freedom through digital assets.”
Similarly, Kraken has partnered with Atlético de Madrid, becoming the Official Crypto and Web3 Partner of the Spanish football club. Starting in the 2024 season, Kraken will also serve as the Official Sleeve Partner for all men’s and women’s team shirts.
This collaboration aims to blend sports with Web3 technology, creating new opportunities for Spanish football fans and Kraken’s crypto clients. Kraken plans to leverage this partnership to drive innovation and enhance global fan engagement.
