Bitget announced on Thursday that it has partnered with Spain’s La Liga, becoming the official cryptocurrency partner of the football league.
Revealed during Token2049 in Singapore, the collaboration marks Bitget’s expansion into the sports market across Eastern and Southeast Asia, as well as Latin America. The multi-million dollar deal brings exclusive benefits to both parties and aligns with their shared “Make It Count” philosophy, according to the exchange.
Speaking on the partnership, Bitget’s CEO, Gracy Chen, emphasised the importance of digital innovation in sports, stating,
“As the world of sports increasingly embraces crypto, blockchain, and emerging technologies, these advancements are becoming essential to the transformation. Partnering with LaLiga enables us to drive the adoption of crypto in sports, creating new opportunities for both fans and athletes.”
The growing presence of crypto sponsors in sports highlights the increasing mainstream adoption of digital currencies. This trend is largely fueled by mutually beneficial partnerships between sports organisations and crypto companies, showcasing the integration of digital assets into everyday life.
Earlier this year, UEFA sought crypto sponsorships for the 2024-2027 cycle of the men’s Champions League. This led to Crypto.com securing its position as the first and exclusive global cryptocurrency platform partner for the tournament.
Similarly, AC Milan announced a long-term partnership with crypto platform Bitpanda, naming it as the club’s “Premium” and “Official Crypto Trading Partner.” Bitpanda gained prominent visibility at San Siro, starting with AC Milan’s first home match of the Serie A season. The partnership aimed to drive the club’s digital transformation, offering Bitpanda users exclusive content and VIP access to matches and special events throughout the season.
Furthermore, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (Wolves) recently partnered with the LAKE blockchain project, naming it their official cryptocurrency partner. The collaboration aims to boost global reach and community engagement while supporting LAKE’s mission to improve access to clean water. LAKE CEO Jean-Hugues Gavarini emphasised the deal’s significance in raising awareness and advancing their cause through the club’s global platform.
