Cardano’s co-founder and CEO, Charles Hoskinson, has reaffirmed his support for Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton’s election bid against Senator Elizabeth Warren with a $3,300 donation.
In a post on social media platform X, Hoskinson revealed his contribution and noted that it was the maximum amount allowed. He also emphasized the importance of individuals challenging “the establishment against banks writing our laws and destroying the crypto industry.”
Deaton, a prominent advocate for the crypto industry, recently announced his candidacy for the Massachusetts Senatorial seat with the aim of unseating the incumbent Senator Warren, who is known for her critical stance on cryptocurrencies.
Over the years, Warren has advocated for stricter regulations in the crypto sector, citing concerns about potential misuse in activities such as money laundering, sanctions evasion, cybercrime, terrorism, and drug trafficking. In September 2023, she introduced an anti-money laundering bill to regulate the financial activities of various cryptocurrency entities.
Deaton, on the other hand, is recognized for his pro-XRP stance and involvement in legal actions related to Ripple’s native token. Notably, He and other XRP investors filed a petition against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, challenging the regulator’s assertion that the programmatic sale of XRP constitutes a security offering.
Following the announcement of Deaton’s intentions to contest, Senator Warren reportedly began to mobilize her campaign team and raise additional funds for the upcoming election. She mobilized her supporters to prepare for the political tussle against Deaton, whom she believes will receive support from the Republican party and crypto lobby groups who have put a “target on her back”.
In his campaign video, Deaton expressed his desire to disrupt the status quo for the benefit of citizens. In his words:
“I am running for U.S. Senate to continue my life’s mission to shake things up for the people who need it most.”
Deaton is a new face in the U.S. political scene and faces quite a difficult battle against Warren, who has twice won the Senate seat twice.
